A fresh new look for the WTS website.

WTS launched its newly designed website this fall. As a member, you can access your contact information by viewing or updating your profile. And for the first time, you can add demographic information and professional credentials to your profile. Members can also obtain a list of recent transactions, including payment of membership dues, and print receipts. The membership directory also includes additional search options. For example, you can now search the directory for a list of WTS members who are engineers or work in the public sector.  As members update this information in their profiles, such searches will include more content.

In October all members were sent a user name and password as their login for the WTS website. If you have not already done so, please login to the website. Once logged in, please change your password, review your information, and add the demographic and professional information to your profile. Having current information will help to serve you more efficiently, keep in touch better, and allow you to take full advantage of all the benefits of membership with WTS.  If you need your login sent to you again, please contact WTS Membership.

Dear WTS Members and Friends,

I wish you and yours a wonderful and safe holiday season filled with family and friends.  Please remember WTS Scholarship during this time of giving.  Our future transportation leaders need our donations to help them realize their dreams and complete their educations.  So, give generously to your local chapter scholarship funds and the national scholarship funds.  Every dollar helps us get closer to our mission of “Transforming the transportation industry through the advancement of women,” because the foundation is education.

I want to thank all the chapters that have hosted wonderful events including our newest chapter Treasure Valley (Idaho), Atlanta, San Diego, Greater New York, Portland, and Minnesota, who celebrated their 25th anniversary.  The Strait of Georgia chapter hosted the November board meeting and it was delightful.  It is so energizing to meet with WTS members and attend events.  We are an incredible group of people doing incredible things in the transportation industry.

The WTS/APTA breakfast was a huge success and I want to thank the Washington Group for sponsoring.  This is the 12th year that we have had the breakfast and it is one of the events to attend at the APTA Annual Conference.  Thanks, too, to Bill Millar and his staff.

In November, the board passed a ten percent dues increase that will help provide the funding necessary to continue implementing the recently adopted Strategic Plan and to insulate WTS from an economic downturn which could affect other revenue sources.  The increase will also provide additional operating capital for international and the chapters because the increase is being evenly split.

It is time for international board elections and every member will be receiving a ballot.  Please take the time to vote because it does matter and the international board members will be serving for two years – from May 2008-2010.

The 2008 conference in Atlanta is fast approaching and I hope that you have calendars marked for May 14th -16th.  Transportation Crossroads is the theme and the chapter received great abstracts that will result in thought provoking sessions.

Again all the happiness during the holidays and remember WTS Scholarships.

Sincerely,
Ann L. Koby
WTS International President
